“Oil on Water on Blacktop, Add Sun” was taken in October 2018, in the parking lot in front of Poco’s restaurant in Doylestown, PA, in between storm systems.
Where humans and nature meet is one of my photographic themes, this one showing the deceptive beauty of parking lot car oil pollution. Oil on paved blacktop, combined with some leftover moisture from rainstorms, all topped off by a hit of brilliant sunshine created this one.
The yellow leaf just happened to fall into the golden area of the oil-slick rainbow, adding the perfect accent from a later-than-usual fall.
The outtake photo, above, shows the real color of the blacktop as a contrast to how colorful the oil, water and sun made it look.
Perhaps this will all become a relic as electric and other vehicles displace those powered by petroleum.
Be well!
Alison
